Fortnite and Travis Scott’s Astronomical concert event saw over 12.3 million concurrent players attend its first showing, Epic Games has confirmed.
This breaks their previous record achieved with Marshmello’s DJ set event in February last year, which achieved over 10 million concurrent players.
It’s perhaps not surprising considering Travis Scott is more well known than Marshmello, along with the tease of new music in his performance likely drawing players too.
Those who attended the event also unlocked new gear which would have been an added attraction to those who are perhaps unaware of the rapper.
HONESTLY TODAY WAS ONE OF THE MOST INSPIRING DAYS. LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF U GUYS. AND I KNOW TIMES ARE WEIRD FOR US. BUT FOR ONE MOMENT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE RAGERS TO RAGE WHERE EVER YOU ARE IS AMAZING. LOVE U GUYS WITH ALL MY BODY. !!!!! GANG 🌵

Travis Scott debuted new track The Scotts with Kid Cudi at the concert event, which saw the rapper ballooned to giant size and teleport around the map.
While the community has grown in frustration over certain aspects, this was a well-timed reminder of experiences only Fortnite can pull off.
This isn’t the last time the event takes place either, which is scheduled for various times across Friday and Saturday 26th April.
