Japanese publisher Square Enix is gearing up for the global release of its fantasy open-world RPG Forspoken, despite the game's first hour of gameplay having leaked to the general public. While the trailers have showcased how graphically impressive and detailed the game is, those anticipating jumping into the game at launch must ensure they have the right specs and reserve ample space.
Various sources have revealed that Forspoken's preloading dates and time, and download size may be a concern for both console and PC players. Likewise, we'll look at all the details relating to Forspoken's preloading schedule and download file sizes at launch.
What Is Forspoken's Preload Schedule & File Download Size?
Forspoken will be available to all prospective players on 22nd January 2023 for PlayStation 5 consoles and PC via Steam and Epic Games. Timing-wise, preloading should be available at 12 am local time for the available platforms mentioned earlier.
Regarding how much storage space to reserve, it raises some eyebrows as it varies between PS5 console and PC, but you should make some ample space regardless. On console, downloading size is reported to be around 87.3 GB, according to the Twitter account PlayStation Game Size.
While it's been reported that Forspoken's game file size is quite bigger than God of War: Ragnarok and smaller than Horizon Forbidden West, the latter depends on the regional version of the game. However, PC players will need to reserve almost double the storage capacity listed on the game's Steam page, revealing the PC game file size clocking at a staggering 150 GB.
To begin the preloading or pre-installation process on your PS5 console, you can follow the easy steps provided below:
- Navigate to the Games main menu and select Games Library.
- Select Forspoken and click on the timer.
- You can view all the content that will auto-download or select any or all you wish to disable.
- Uncheck the boxes beside the content you want to disable the auto-download feature.
- Or choose the "Select All" option to disable the auto-download feature for all content.
Lastly, ensure that you have a stable internet connection for the preloading so you can jump into the game and avoid the long loading queues at launch. Forspoken will be available for PS5 and PC on 24th January 2023.
