With the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion, Dawntrail, Square Enix have been steadily revealing all of the new content set to arrive in game. This includes two new Job classes — Viper and Pictomancer.
Pictomancer is a new magical ranged DPS Job which sees players create magical art through the mixing of aether. It seems players will be able to bring to life creatures, weapons, and alter landscapes with the power of their brush. While creating these works of art might require lengthy cast-time durations, the Pictomancer will also be equipped with some instant-cast abilities.
If you're itching to let your creativity shine, then the Pictomancer will be on your radar. So, here's when this new Job is set to release in Final Fantasy XIV.
Update March 25, 2024: Square Enix have announced a release date for FF14's Dawntrail expansion.
When Does The Pictomancer Job Release In Final Fantasy XIV?
The new Pictomancer Job will be released alongside the Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail expansion, set to launch in Summer 2024. Like Viper, the Pictomancer will be one of the brand new Jobs releasing exclusively to this upcoming expansion.
Dawntrail is set to launch on July 2, 2024. An early access period will be available, which begins on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2:00 a.m. (PDT).
Do You Need Dawntrail To Play Pictomancer In FFXIV?
Yes, Pictomancer is a new Job exclusive to Dawntrail. Players will need to have access to this new expansion in order to pick up this new Job role. It's likely that this Job will be available once players reach a certain in-game level on their character. So don't expect to be able to pick up Pictomancer from the character creation menu.
Instead, you'll likely need to pick up the relevant Starting Job quest from one of the in-game areas, much like how players access Jobs such as Dark Knight in Ishgard as part of the Heavensward expansion.
