Will Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Have All Expansions?

Square Enix have announced that popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is set to get a mobile version, bringing the realm of Eorzea to handheld devices. FFXIV Mobile is being developed by Lightspeed Studios under the supervision of FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and wider development team members.

In a recent blog post, Square Enix confirmed that nine Jobs will be available at launch, along with the Armoury system that allows players to switch Jobs at will just as they would in the main game. But, given that FFXIV has five expansions now, with the recent launch of Dawntrail, players are wondering just how much of FFXIV they'll be able to tap into on mobile?

Will FFXIV Mobile Include All Expansions?

At the time of writing, we know that FFXIV Mobile will begin with A Realm Reborn, the base game. It was here that we were first introduced to the Scions such as Thancred, Alphinaud, Y'shtola and more, and first faced off against the Primals. 

But what of the other expansions? After A Realm Reborn we careen into Heavensward, then Stormblood, before taking on Shadowbringers, Endwalker and, of course, Dawntrail. Well, for now, that all seems a bit murky. 

Square Enix has yet to confirm whether Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will have all expansions available at launch or if we'll only have A Realm Reborn to start with. It's possible that the latter is true, given the amount of work it takes to convert an established MMORPG such as FFXIV to mobile. 

Given that the blog posts have been fairly vague about this point, too, it leads us to believe that only A Realm Reborn will be available at launch. Other expansions are likely to arrive at later dates. 

Despite a lack of expansions, FFXIV Mobile will feature a variety of non-combat activities for players to spend their time enjoying, including Triple Triad, Fishing, and Chocobo Racing. See you at the Gold Saucer!

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile doesn't have a release date just yet, but playtests are expected to begin soon for players in China.
