Final Fantasy XIV's latest expansion, Dawntrail, is here. If past expansions are anything to go by, expect queues and congestion aplenty. That said, director Naoki Yoshida assured fans that we won't see Endwalker-like issues this time, but queues are still fairly likely.
On top of that, there are a few error codes which can pop up that prevent players from getting into the game, such as Error 2002.
What Is Error 2002 In Final Fantasy XIV?
Error 2002 is a code that might appear when attempting to select a character at the character selection menu. This error code appears when the server is experiencing an influx of traffic, or if the number of characters waiting in the login queue for a Data Center exceeds capacity.
The error can also appear while you're waiting in the login queue, as the longer you're waiting to play there's an increased likelihood of interruptions caused by connection issues and other factors.
How To Fix Error 2002 In Final Fantasy XIV
Because Error 2002 is directly related to queue times and servers exceeding capacity, there's no way for a player to fix the error directly. The solution is to simply wait it out or attempt to login into another World or Data Center.
While annoying, the occurence of Error 2002 should be dramatically lower than around the launch of Endwalker, owing to the fact that there are more servers available for the launch of Dawntrail. In an interview with GINX, Naoki Yoshida explained that the team will be monitoring the situation closely and will be able to turn on more servers as needed.
