Final Fantasy XIV is getting a brand new Limited Job as part of the MMO's latest expansion, Dawntrail. Revealed as part of Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest Tokyo 2024, players will soon be able to add Beastmaster to their Job rotations.
But as a Limited Job, Beastmaster will have special restrictions when it comes to Duties and other experiences. So far, only one Limited Job is currently available in Final Fantasy XIV — Blue Mage, which allows players to harness the powers of enemy creatures and use them for themselves. So how will Beastmaster differ? And when will players be able to explore this new Job role?

Beastmaster Final Fantasy XIV Release Date
The new Beastmaster Limited Job is set to release as part of the Dawntrail expansion, during a later 7.X patch. At the time of writing, it's not clear exactly which patch the Beastmaster Job will launch, though it was not made available on release of the expansion.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail launched on July 2, 2024, with an early access period having taken place from June 28, 2024 at 2:00 a.m. (PDT).
What Does Beastmaster Do In Final Fantasy XIV?
Not a huge amount of information has been given on how Beastmaster will operate in Final Fantasy XIV. However, this Job has appeared in past Final Fantasy titles, including Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy XI (where it's an advanced Job role).
We speculate that the role in FFXIV will be similar to FFXI, where players are able to utilize various creatures for their gains in battle. The key element to their kit is the ability Charm, with which players could control certain targets and command them to fight.
FFXIV Beastmaster Restrictions
We expect the Beastmaster Job to have similar restrictions to the Blue Mage, in that it won't be able to take part in the following activities:
- Duty Roulettes
- Adventuring Forays
- Ultimate Raids
- Squadron Missions
- Deep Dungeons
- PvP, including duels
- Stone, Sky, Sea
- Hall of the Novice
- Duty Support
- Progress through Main Scenario
However, Blue Mages gain greater experience from battling enemies in the open world than other jobs. It's possible that this will be a feature granted to Beastmasters, too. Blue Mages also cannot solo queue for the Duty Finder, but participate in duties with other players in preformed or unrestricted parties.
