Is there a new ending in FFVII Remake Intergrade?
(Picture: Square Enix)
Despite game director Tetsuya Nomura confirming back in May that Part 2 will pick immediately after FFVII Remake Intergrade, fans reacted cautiously as many believed this could simply be a ploy to hype up the PS5 version of the game.
Nomura was not kidding as we can confirm that there is new content involving Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barrett, and Red XIII, however, it's not tied to the base game, instead, you'll need to finish Yuffie's INTERmission DLC.
We'll not spoil Yuffie's own story and simply mention the events of INTERmission set her up perfectly for her inevitable run-in with Cloud and company. Once you finish the DLC, wait until the credits roll to check out an entirely new scene involving the main cast of FFVII Remake.
FFVII Remake Intergrade: INTERmission post-credits scene
(Picture: Square Enix)
The post-credits scene sees us reunited with Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII after leaving Midgar behind in search of Sephiroth. As they're walking alongside a seemingly desolated highway, a truck stumbles upon them, driven by none other than Chocobo Bill, a familiar face for die-hard fans as he's the character that lets players rent stables to breed Chocobos in the original game.
Here, Bill drops our crew near Kalm, which is the first location the squad visits after leaving Midgar. The scene ends as they're approaching the village, cutting to Zack Fair back at the Sector 5 Church, unaware that Aerith is no longer around as the game fades to black.
Did Zack somehow crossed over to the current timeline Remake is happening? Does him surviving altered his own? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
