How to fix Far Cry 6 black screen after update

One of the biggest issues that Far Cry 6 players have faced since the game was released is not being able to play after an update has been downloaded. While the issues vary by player, the most common dilemma is seeing a black screen after an update. 

Of course, a black screen in any game isn’t a good sign but this specific problem is forcing players to go through some drastic measures to even get to the Far Cry 6 menu screen. Luckily, players don’t need to do all of the complicated measures they’re taking within the game’s files, for example. There are a few fixes to the problem that should see players back up and running in Yara. 

Those fixes are listed below for Far Cry 6 players. 

Fixing the black screen after update issue in Far Cry 6

The easiest method to fix the problem is to verify your game’s files on either Ubisoft Connect or the Epic Games Store. Since this problem is only on PC, there are no fixes for console players. 

You can see how to verify the game files on both applications below. 

Ubisoft Connect 

1. Launch Ubisoft Connect

2. Go to “Games” then Far Cry 6

3. Right-click on the game 

4. Click “Properties” 

5. Click on “Local Files” 

6. Click on “Verify Files” 

Epic Games Store

1. Launch Epic Games Store

2. Click on “Game Library” 

3. Find Far Cry 6

4. Click “Settings” 

5. Click “Verify” 

6. Restart the application once the process is complete 

For most players, this method will work. However, in the rare case that it doesn’t, you can try a couple of other methods. 

• Alt + Tab out of Far Cry 6 once the black screen appears and then re-click on the Far Cry 6 window 

• Update GPU drivers through Nvidia or AMD 

Ultimately, this is really all that can be done. If none of the methods worked for you, then you’ll likely have to wait for an update from Ubisoft to play Far Cry 6 again.
