As anticipated, Elden Ring has received another patch following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, aiming to address several issues that have been troubling players for the past few weeks, including those from before the DLC release. The 1.12.3 patch has resolved some issues, but not all, as many players have pointed out.

Let's take a detailed look at what the new 1.12.3 patch for Elden Ring has introduced to the game, as well as which issues it has tackled and which remain unaddressed so far.

The latest patch, 1.12.3, for Elden Ring has been released, bringing much-needed fixes for various issues in the base game and the DLC experienced over the past few weeks. This update addresses potential causes of low performance, such as ray tracing settings enabled by default and conflicts with third-party mouse applications.

According to the detailed breakdown of the patch notes: "In some PC versions, Ray Tracing may be unintentionally enabled and cause unstable performance. Please check the Ray Tracing setting in the 'System' > 'Graphics Settings' > 'Raytracing Quality' from the title screen or in-game menu. ...Unstable framerate may be caused by third-party applications that control mouse behavior. Deactivating these third-party applications may improve performance."

Players are encouraged to check their game settings to ensure Ray Tracing is disabled, as it can sometimes be automatically enabled when the game detects your hardware. Additionally, the patch addresses the "inappropriate activity detected" message appearing without any actual inappropriate activity (such as cheats or mods) on the PC platform, along with several non-performance-related fixes to existing issues.

The developers also fixed some in-game mechanics, such as the bug where the unblockable bite attack of the Golden Hippopotamus boss would connect with players more easily than intended, which is a relief since that enemy can be quite challenging. Unfortunately, the patch notes do not mention any resolution for the ongoing micro-stuttering issues, but we can hope that a future update will address this problem fully.
