The release trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign has set the FromSoftware community abuzz. Much of the excitement stems from the appearance of The Nameless King and the potential return of other iconic bosses and characters in Nightreign. As anticipation builds, players eagerly discuss which bosses they hope to encounter in the game.

The Elden Ring subreddit erupted with excitement following the release of the Nightreign trailer, as fans immediately began speculating which FromSoftware bosses or NPCs might make an appearance. Amid the discussions, user DJ_Caan sparked further interest by asking fellow fans which bosses they’d like to see return—and the responses were as diverse as expected.

While bosses from across the franchise were mentioned, Dark Souls 2 - often regarded as the black sheep of the Souls trilogy - received significant attention. Many fans expressed interest in seeing its bosses make a comeback. For example, user Weak_Big_1709 hoped for a revitalized Ivory King alongside a congregation of Loyce Knights. Others advocated for the return of Sir Alonne or the Fume Knight, both widely regarded as two of the best bosses in the series.

Fans also voiced their desire to see bosses from the other Souls games. Some called for Sister Friede, a DLC boss from Dark Souls 3, while others suggested the return of the Soul of Cinder, the game’s final boss. Nostalgia also played a role, with requests for the iconic duo Ornstein and Smough (O&S) to make a comeback.

Interestingly, some players looked beyond the Souls series entirely, hoping to see bosses from Bloodborne. The Orphan of Kos was a popular pick, while others suggested Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, with some even speculating she might already appear in the trailer.

Of course, there’s no way to know which bosses will make it into the game. With over 100 bosses outside of Elden Ring to draw from, the possibilities are endless. Still, the excitement continues to build as the trailer has already teased the return of the Nameless King, Freja, and - potentially - some surprising additions that could make Nightreign an unforgettable release.
