As players get further along in the late game of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Taash is one of many companions that could reach coveted Hero of the Veilguard status. Once earlier quests have been completed and the story reaches a particular point, the final step for Taash will be an emotional rescue mission.
After the dust settles, Taash is left with a difficult decision that Rook must help them make. Before choosing, take a look at the Veilguard Skill and Legendary Armor in store for Taash if they pursue Rivaini culture or pursue Qunari heritage in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
How to Unlock Hero of the Veilguard for Taash
Not every Hero of the Veilguard quest unlocks at the same time, and the factors for that aren't just how far along you are in a bond with each companion. Some, like Harding, can reach Hero of the Veilguard status before some story quests that must be completed to reach final stages with Taash and a few others.
Those who choose to pursue a romance with Taash will actually have an earlier version of the question that is posed at Taash's climactic moment. At that time, Taash is also trying to process being non-binary and romance dialogue options will take a path that doesn't require nudging them towards Qunari or Rivaini culture the first time. That choice comes in the quest Lair of the Dragon King.
If that quest isn't appearing in the journal despite having a high bond and having done the other companion quests with Taash, it's likely because you still need to complete Blood of Arlathan and save the kidnapped Dalish. Some Hero of the Veilguard quests will only appear in that final stage of the game before players make their last stand against the Evanuris. Once the final battles have been finished during Lair of the Dragon King, it'll be decision time for Taash.
What did she want for you? (Veilguard Skill & Legendary Armor)
If players choose to encourage Taash to pursue their Rivaini culture, the result will be what many would consider the "good" path for Taash. Choosing this option will unlock the following:
- Hero of the Veilguard Skill
- Rivaini Flair: Taash's Critical damage increases by 50%, with damage vs. High Health increased by 25%. Taash's Burning now deals 50% more damage on the initial hit, reducing by 10% on each subsequent hit.
- Hero of the Veilguard Legendary Armor
- Rivain's Legacy: All Detonations now apply Burning to all affected enemies. Detonations deal an additional +150% Fire damage if the target is already Burning.
What was she? (Veilguard Skill & Legendary Armor)
On the other side of things, players can encourage Taash to pursue their Qunari heritage. Choosing this option will unlock the following:
- Hero of the Veilguard Skill
- Qunari Focus: Taash's weapon attack damage increases by 50% with a 20% reduction in cooldown duration. Taash's Burning duration increases by 2 seconds.
- Hero of the Veilguard Legendary Armor
- The Qun's Honor: Detonating a Weakened enemy Detonates another nearby Weakened enemy (internal cooldown). The second Detonation now aplies to all other nearby Weakened enemies, not just one.
For players who have completed the Hall of Valor and unlocked the Rivaini-inspired A Modest Brooch armor appearance, choosing Rivaini culture may be preferred as Taash's Rivaini armor matches the A Modest Brooch look very well. Choosing Qunari heritage instead will grant different benefits, and it may feel like a better fit for players using a Qunari character. Once this quest is completed, Taash will become a Hero of the Veilguard and be prepared to face the challenges that await in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
