DOOM and DOOM II are getting enhanced for modern devices in a massive free upgrade from developers. Those who own either game will now get both of them - since they're now available in a combined release. The new update also adds a variety of features, like online death matches, single-player mod support, an updated soundtrack, 4K support, and even a brand-new episode.
DOOM's team calls this the game's "biggest effort yet", made in collaboration with individuals from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames. It's definitely an all-new experience, even with new menus, achievements, and new settings.
On top of DOOM and DOOM II themselves, owners of either game will receive all of the following content for free:
- Master Levels for DOOM II
- TNT: Evilution
- The Plutonia Experiment
- No Rest for the Living
- Sigil
- Legacy of Rust
- A new Deathmatch map pack featuring 25 maps
