After a series of layoffs across the company, it appears that Bungie has also cut ties with Michael Salvatori, the composer behind Halo: Combat Evolved, both Destiny titles and multiple other Bungie games.
It was reported on Monday that Bungie was cutting roles across the studio, and both the websites of Salvatori and Michael Sechrist (a fellow composer at the studio) have been updated to simply say 'Gone Fishin'. There are no official reports on whether or not Salvatori left voluntarily, though, with a Community Animator claiming that he was laid off, and a reporter at Windows Central claiming that he retired of his volition.
Salvatori has been working with the studio for over twenty years, so to see him leave is a rather massive shock to fans of Destiny & Halo. The news comes as reported delays hit both the next expansion to Destiny 2, Destiny 2: The Final Shape & their next title, Marathon, as reported by Bloomberg who claims that The Final Shape has been pushed to next June from an original February release date. The same reporter claims that the Marathon release date has been pushed back to 2025, though no launch window was previously announced for the game which suggests the original plan was to release the game in 2024.
