As the 16th season of Destiny 2 wraps up, players look towards the beginning of the following year. Destiny 2 continues strong in its 5th year, The Witch Queen, as players wait for the arrival of Lightfall.
Leaks have revealed that there will be changes to the PvP system and a significant update for the item crafting system for Season 17. Bungie aims to bring required changes to continue laying the groundwork for the next expansion.

The release date for Destiny 2 Season 17 is 24th May 2022 and could run anywhere from 90 to 120+ days. The previous season, Season of the Risen, will have a total run time of 91 days.

Destiny 2 Season 17 – Content leaks
Bungie has confirmed that there'll be a new dungeon added with Season 17. There is currently no information on the new dungeon other than video footage.

A Raid Rotation will be added to give players a new take on old raids, which will be split into Seasonal and Weekly challenges. This will allow players to receive new rewards for completing the dungeons and raids that go through the rotation.
The Trials of Osiris will be getting a few changes during Season 17. There will be seven maps in the Seasonal Rotation, and one of them will be decided by player vote. The Adept Rewards will change, but Capture Zone and Freelance Weekends will remain.
Destiny 2 Season 17 – Item Crafting update
The updates to the Item Crafting system in Season 17 aim to make crafting more straightforward for players. Players were frustrated with the Item Crafting system introduced with The Witch Queen because of material caps and that many items required an exuberant amount of materials to craft.
Bungie has already begun to make tweaks to the system during Season 16, but Season 17 will see the removal of Legendary crafting elements. Elements such as Ruinous and Adroit will no longer be available.
