We explain how you can download Deadlock and reveal the precise file size of Valve's new third-person hero shooter / MOBA hybrid.

Valve

I've been fortunate enough to get an invite to Playtest, the brand-new, not-so-secret Valve game. Deadlock is best described as a third-person team-based hero shooter combined with a MOBA, and from first impressions, Valve seems to be nailing the hybrid gameplay.

If you want to download Deadlock on PC via Steam, then we've got you covered. I'll reveal the precise file size and tell you how to get the game installed, so let's jump in.

How Big is Deadlock on PC?

I can confirm with 100% certainty that as of 20 September 2024, Deadlock weighs in at exactly 22.81 GB on PC via a fresh Steam installation. That's not big at all, and I definitely do not expect Deadlock to balloon suddenly over 50 GB or even 100 GB like some Call of Duty titles.

Keep in mind that the file size can and likely will increase with time as more content is added, but Deadlock isn't one of those huge games that you'll need to upgrade your SSD to download and play.

How To Download Deadlock

Downloading Deadlock is very easy after you've received a Playtest invite. (Picture: Valve / Wessel Minnie)

It is very easy to download Deadlock after you've received an invite to participate in the Playtest. Simply accept the invite, head to your Steam library, select the game, and click on install. As you can see from the image above, I've installed Deadlock.

If you don't have access yet, you'll have to wait to either receive an invite from Valve or from a friend or until the developer decides to open the floodgates and let everyone in. At the time of writing, it is unclear when this will happen, but I can say that the game is already in a great state.

If you've got some interesting info to share on Deadlock, feel free to email me at wessel.minnie@ginx.tv. You can also email me with Deadlock-related requests, such as a hero you would like to learn more about.

Enjoying my content? Of course, you are. You can check out my other guides and news. Show your support, as it does make a difference; almost to the effect of liking and subscribing on YouTube, but without the hassle.

Stay tuned as we'll bring you more Deadlock coverage as the game is still in early development!
