In a 7 September Reddit AMA, Dead by Daylight's team suggested that perk randomizers might become a permanent feature in the game, allowing players to randomize their perks at will.
"'Perk Randomizer' was a great initiative, and we are hoping to bring it back in the future in some shape and form," said Vikram Mehta, Senior Product Manager at Dead by Daylight.
The team tested out perk randomizers during past events in Event Tomes, requiring players to complete challenges with randomized perks in return for a reward and tome progression. These challenges were called "Remix" challenges.
For example, during the 2023 Twisted Masquerade event, players could complete the following perk randomizer challenges:
- Life Giver (Remix) - With a loadout consisting of 4 randomly generated perks, heal a total of two health states of any survivor
- Property Damage (Remix) - With a loadout consisting of 4 randomly generated perks, damage a generator or destroy a dropped pallet 6 times
Since developers only stated that the perk randomizers might come back "in some shape or form," it's unclear what that means. DBD could potentially add a perk randomizer that players can use whenever they please, allowing them to try out fun new builds during trials, or utilize this feature more in challenges and for Tomes outside of events.
For now, players will need to wait and see what's in store for the future of park randomizers in Dead by Daylight; it's unclear in what capacity they'll be added and when. However, they certainly seem like an interesting feature that could add new twists and turns to trials for both killers and survivors.
In the meantime, there are a variety of Dead by Daylight perk randomizers online that players can try out if they want a random build, but you'll need to manually enter these perks into your DBD loadout. Thankfully, though, the recently added perk search bars make this process significantly easier.
