Disney Dreamlight Valley has been thriving since the first paid expansion, A Rift in Time, went live late last year as the game left Early Access. That launch was accompanied by Disney Dreamlight Valley Update 8, and it added Jack Skellington to the base game as a new character with new quests for all players. Now we've finally got word that Disney Dreamlight Valley Update 9 is on the way, and the first new feature has been confirmed.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Update 9 releasing soon with name change option
A few months after the last update started bringing The Nightmare Before Christmas to Disney Dreamlight Valley, another set of additions is on the way. Developer Gameloft confirmed via Twitter that a "Name Change option" will be "arriving in Update 9."
The Royal Winter Star Path event ended just a few short weeks ago, and the game has been due for some news since that wrapped up. We don't yet have a release date for Disney Dreamlight Valley Update 9, but they likely wouldn't have begun teasing it if deployment was more than a few weeks away.
The ability to change your in-game character name will be a welcome one. For players who like to base their Disney Dreamlight Valley character on various themes, it'll allow you to ramp that customization up another notch. This also marks another step in embracing inclusivity, as the game will allow players who have changed their chosen name since they started playing to fix it without having to start an entirely new save.
We don't yet know what else is on deck in Disney Dreamlight Valley Update 9, but their roadmap of future content teased a new Realm due in "Late Winter 2024." We're certainly at that stage, and the roadmap showed Mike Wazowski. While we're waiting for more official word from developers on when it'll land and all the content that's coming soon, the wait is almost over for Monsters Inc. fans.
