Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time has already introduced new exciting locations, and your first journeys with the Royal Hourglass will require some new methods. If you're hoping to add characters like Rapunzel or Gaston to your village, you'll first have to complete The Sands in the Hourglass.
This quest helps get you acquainted with using the Royal Hourglass, and it will also open a path to the Glittering Dunes and the Wild Tangle. We'll go over how you can reach those new Disney Dreamlight Valley locations in our The Sands in the Hourglass guide.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Sands in the Hourglass Guide
Once you've arrived on Eternity Isle by completing The Port of Many Worlds and begun to explore, you'll probably be wondering how to reach the newest biomes. The Glittering Dunes are a vast desert area where you'll find Gaston, and the Wild Tangle is a lush jungle that hosts Rapunzel.
After you've finished The Secrets of Eternity Isle and The Flying Metal Nuisance, you'll finally have the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley. If you want to make EVE part of your village and become friends before continuing the main story, go check on her and complete DIRECTIVE: DANGER.
The Sands in the Hourglass should begin as soon as you finish The Flying Metal Nuisance, and you'll be tasked with using your Hourglass to clear away Swirling Sands. Some of the larger Swirling Sands won't be removable until later on, but get acclimated with your new tool to create an opening and head to the Secluded Beach.
How to Find Ancient Statue Fragments & Ancient Plates
Once you've spoken to Jafar, you'll have to start using your Hourglass to find Hidden Treasure. This is a process you'll use quite a bit as you settle into Eternity Isle, and the Hourglass essentially works like a wayfinder which shows you which direction Hidden Treasure is from your current position.
The light above your Hourglass will change colors depending on proximity to the treasure from blue to eventually yellow, orange, and red to indicate the treasure is right next to you. Exact positioning can be hard to trigger, but try to shift a little bit in your spot or change your camera angle before pressing the Hourglass button again to start pulling a treasure out of the flow of time.
The two Ancient Statue Fragments should be found on the Secluded Beach, but you'll have to go find the Ancient Plates elsewhere. Their exact locations likely vary, but for us they were by the Broken Bridge, by The Docks, and finally in the cave from EVE's memory in The Flying Metal Nuisance.
How Unlock the Wild Tangle & Glittering Dunes
Return to the Secluded Beach after acquiring the items and speak to Jafar once again. He'll gift you the Detailed Statue-Repair Instructions, and after reading them you can use the Timebending Table to combine the Ancient Plates and Ancient Statue Fragments into the Statue's Arm.
Place it in the statue, and you'll then want to go meet Jafar at the Broken Bridge again. After another conversation, you'll want to actually find Merlin to get things opened up. You need at least 2,000 Mist to repair the Broken Bridge, which can be earned by completing Mist Duties (like Dreamlight Duties) or via Timebending with the Hourglass.
Once you have the necessary amount, Merlin can help you repair the bridge and open up your path to the Wild Tangle and Glittering Dunes. Finishing The Sands in the Hourglass will also unlock Time Rifts, which you can use to rack up tons of extra resources for Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
