The arrival of Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time has introduced tons of new content to the game, but one of the rarest new items is an Ancient Core. While difficult to find, these valuable resources are crucial to upgrading your Royal Tools as well as crafting powerful items.
You'll need the Royal Hourglass, but there are a few ways to speed up the process and collect even more when they do show up. We've got all the tips you need here to get Ancient Cores in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Find Ancient Cores in Disney Dreamlight Valley
If you're looking to upgrade your tools and clear things away or build some Ancient Machines, you'll need the coveted Ancient Core in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Like many of the additions in the new A Rift in Time DLC, these items are linked to the Royal Hourglass. In order to get the Royal Hourglass, you first have to finish The Flying Metal Nuisance quest.
However, that alone won't give you access. Keep going with Jafar, and by finishing The Sands in the Hourglass you'll gain the ability to search for Hidden Treasure. As soon as that ability is unlocked, you can search for several items, but you will need to spend 5000 Mist at a timebending table to find Ancient Cores.
Once your Hourglass has been upgraded to Level 1, you'll begin to occasionally find an Ancient Core (Level 1) while searching for Hidden Treasure with the Hourglass. Continuing to upgrade to Level 2 and Level 3 will instead find Ancient Cores of that higher quality which can in turn be used for even more powerful upgrades.
When searching, always be sure to use the indicator light to help locate the treasure. It turns from blue to yellow to orange and finally red when you're very close to a treasure, and having food handy will keep your stamina charged as you search.
Tips to Get More Ancient Cores Fast
The problem with finding Ancient Cores in Disney Dreamlight Valley is that, while the method is easy, they're incredibly rare. You can easily search for Hidden Treasure a dozen times without ever finding a single Ancient Core, but there are some ways to improve your odds.
The most important, and one you should be investing in the second you gain access to Eternity Isle, is a Timebending Companion. Once you've gained access to the Royal Hourglass, any new character you meet (even ones you haven't yet unlocked from the Valley) will have the option of choosing Timebending as their companion skill.
Like all companion skills, the bonuses continue to stack the more companions you have at a high level with that trait. You can start with new characters like EVE, Gaston, and Rapunzel in Eternity Isle if you've already got much of the Valley unlocked and their skills chosen. Another good option would be Jack Skellington, who was just added as a free update.
As the skill increases, your odds of finding rare items like the Ancient Core will increase and there's a chance that finding one will see your companion gift you with an extra. For such a rare item, potentially doubling the speed at which you can gather them is massive.
Also, make sure to search for Hidden Treasure in the Valley as well. Check each biome and move on to the next once you've got all the Hidden Treasure, and by the time you work your way through them the one where you started will likely have reset.
Finally, utilize Time Rifts whenever possible. Once you can access them, Time Rifts spawn multiple Hidden Treasure at once during a small window. Make sure to clear up the ground before activating them, as this will make it easier to reach each new treasure and rake in the rewards.
