Throughout video game history, we've been constantly aware of which AAA games are coming out. There are plenty of games that everyone has their eyes on and are expecting to be good but sometimes, come out bad. But then there are hidden gems that fly completely under the radar and take everyone by surprise — like Dave the Diver.
Dave the Diver is an RPG where you dive into the water to get resources for your sushi restaurant. There's been a number of games that have come out with this sort of formula but none have quite hit like Dave the Diver, and it shows. Dave the Diver has shattered expectations and has hit 1 million copies sold within the first 10 days of launch.
Dave The Diver Is A Splash Hit
One of Dave the Diver's draws is its gameplay. During the daytime, you are diving in the water collecting resources, avoiding danger, and trying your best to solve the many mysteries hidden in the ocean. At night, you are using the resources you gather to run your sushi restaurant.
This gameplay loop has resonated with fans as it is quickly become a top-selling game on Steam. Right now, Dave the Diver is number 6 on the top-selling charts for Steam, surpassing Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring. Ever since Dave the Diver launched, it has yet to leave the top 10 best sellers on Steam.
Dave The Diver Active Player Count
Dave the Diver and been compared to Stardew Valley in its success and if that is true, then Dave the Diver will see longevity. At the time of writing, Dave the Diver is sitting at 90,000 active players at any given time. This is more than the concurrent numbers for both 7 Days to Die and Dead by Daylight.
On Twitch, Dave the Diver is seeing around 11,000 concurrent viewers as well. Although this is a smaller number, it's still impressive for a single-player indie game on Twitch. At the moment, it's unclear if this trend will continue — there is still a lot of hype surrounding this game. It will be up to the developers to make sure that the hype persists.
