In Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red has overhauled some of the core aspects of the base game. This includes things like open world sandbox, buildcrafting, UI, boss battles, and more.
The first boss battle in the Phantom Liberty expansion is against a giant spider bot called Chimera. It's a more elaborate encounter unlike anything in the base game that demands you to learn its attack patterns and deal focused damage.
Whether you're a returning player or a newcomer starting directly with the expansion, the Chimera is a formidable foe. As such, here's our guide, which explains how to easily beat Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077.
Tips & Tricks to Beat Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
As soon as the battle begins, Myers will tell you to target Chimera's weak points. You can check and identify those by activating your scanner. Start shooting the weak points to deal critical damage and chug away the boss' health.
Chimera only has a few attack types, but they are all deadly. One of them involves a laser beam, which can one-shot you if you're of low level. Myers will point out a second before Chimera gets ready to launch the laser attack, so you will have enough time to avoid it.
In another attack, Chimera will launch a volley of missiles towards you. Avoid these by hiding behind one of the many pillars in the room. The missiles will destroy the pillars, so you will have to find new covers every now and then. Chimera's health will go down slowly, but you could get some extra help by scanning and activating turrets in the area. There are two of them up on the walls, so look carefully. If you're running a Netrunner build, don't forget to use Quickhacks like Overheat for some extra damage.
Once its health is almost halfway down, Chimera will get stunned and spawn a couple of repair drones as a backup. While you can ignore them, we recommend taking them out, as they become a nuisance once Chimera is up.
After you have destroyed all its weak points, Chimera will get stunned again, giving you a window of opportunity to rain down attacks. Once it's up, though, it will start raining down missiles more frequently. It's best to stay on the platform and attack Chimera from there instead of staying on its feet.
Remember to jump when the laser hits and hide behind the pillars when the missiles appear. Once Chimera's health is around 2%, you will get a prompt to jump onto its back and finish it off. Do so to finish the battle. Congratulations, you took down a mighty foe!
