The terrifying supernatural tales of an abandoned theme park in Crow Country are coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 consoles this month in time for Halloween, as announced by its developer and publisher, SFB Games. Adam and Tom Vian, the studio's co-owners and brothers, made the announcement on their respective social media accounts as Nintendo dropped an official trailer online to confirm the survival horror game's platform release.

Crow Country garnered mostly positive reviews, including from us at GINX, following its release in May 2024 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and now it's heading to Switch and PS4 consoles on 16th October 2024 with a Wishlist option and a demo now available. In addition, a new Quality-of-Life (QoL) update will be made available for the game, adding new performance optimizations and additional features, including new Localization options.

Crow Country focuses on a derelict theme park, which becomes central to an investigation by Special Agent Mara Forest, who is looking into the disappearance of its founder, Edward Park. However, upon her arrival at the theme park, she encounters a paranormal photographer who warns her of creatures not from this world as she uncovers the truth behind this theme park and learns of the source of these zombie-like creatures.

In an interview with PlayStation (PS) Blog this year, the game's creative director, lead developer, and designer, Adam Vian, stated that the game was "very much inspired by games from the PlayStation One era, which is our favorite or my favorite era of gaming.” Referencing that era of gaming's graphical design as "sophisticated," he added, “It was complex enough to show human characters but not yet photorealistic. Once you go too far past that generation, you’re too close to photorealism for your imagination to need to do any work."

To pinpoint the game's retro gameplay feel, they altogether avoided the inclusion of "auto-saving checkpoints,” citing the "save room" as one of that generation's favorite mechanics, giving players time to save and reflect on what had happened. However, to give players as many options as possible without losing its retro aesthetics, the game also features "traditional and modern" gameplay controls, which will be optimized for Switch and PS4 controllers.
