Team Liquid is one of the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports teams that underwent the biggest changes during the player break (rostermania). Liquid moved the Danish in-game leader and AWPer, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, to the bench and then announced the departure of coach Wilton "zews" Prado.
Liquid then added Justin "jks" Savage and coach Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg and made Canadian Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken the new in-game leader. Now, in an interview with Pley.gg at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024's media day, Twistzz explained the reason for the old Liquid's failure in the first half of 2024.
There was a lack of work ethic in the team.
It was just not working inside or outside of the game. There was no chemistry or synergy. And you can’t really play the game without those two things(…) There is not that much to say about the first season of 2024. I’m just looking forward to this rebuild.
Both Casper "cadiaN" Møller and Wilton "zews" Prado were removed from the team after roughly six months. Twistzz continued to explain how the old Team Liquid felt "very different" from what he experienced on FaZe under Finn "karrigan" Andersen but didn't want to go into any more detail.
Remember, the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 event takes place from 29 July to 4 August 2024, where sixteen of the best teams in the world will compete in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Team Liquid will play their opening match on 31 July 2024 against Virtus.pro in Group D, and it will be interesting to see how big of an impact Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's leadership makes!
