There were some shocking results in the opening matches of the Perfect World Shanghai Major American RMR, with FURIA losing to Legacy and Team Liquid losing to Wildcard Gaming. For the latter Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) match, it appears Team Liquid's Canadian IGL ran into some technical issues and also isn't happy about the event's catering.
Wildcard Gaming beat Team Liquid with a score of 16-12, despite fantastic performances from Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak and Justin "jks" Savage. Topping the scoreboard was none other than Wildcard Gaming's Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek, who also happens to be a South African I am very proud of!
Taking to Twitter (X) after the loss against Wildcard Gaming, Team Liquid's Canadian IGL, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, said that he is convinced an admin broke his mouse prior to the match.
Gg wildcard, should have had that one.

I'm convinced an admin broke my mouse prior to the game 😢
Twistzz further explained in follow-up tweets that:
Had issues prior to the game, took it to another PC to setup drivers and while the drivers were updating, they were unplugging the mice etc. It didn't feel like it did before, but I was focused on the game, I didn't want to cause more tech issues.
That wasn't the only issue experienced by Twistzz thus far. Team Liquid's IGL also expressed his frustration with the food, explaining how the catering had "almost zero" vegetarian options and that the food was labeled incorrectly.
This is a personal issue as well that has been reported but nothing changed. Almost zero vegetarian options given for player catering. They are mislabeling the food as well, so you can never tell until you search through the food. Day 3 of this is incredibly frustrating. Serves as an early heads up for the EU teams that will come here unless they fix it before.
Keep in mind that the Shanghai Major American RMR follows a 16-Team Swiss System Format, where elimination and advancement matches are best-of-three (BO3), and all other matches are BO1. The tournament organizers use the Buchholz system for matchups from Round 3 to Round 5.
The top seven teams make it to the Perfect World Shanghai Major, and the bottom nine teams are sent packing. While the opening match loss isn't the end, Team Liquid and FURIA are now on the back foot as they fight for a spot in the main event.
