If you are a competitive Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) player who loves gaining every possible advantage, then you'll want to learn about even the smallest changes to Active Duty maps. Well, there's a recent change on Dust2 that is rather significant but can be overlooked if you don't pay close attention to the latest CS2 patch notes.
Don't worry; we've got you covered! Let's discuss the change on Dust2 that allows for self-boosting on the crates from CT spawn to A Site / Catwalk and its impact.
Explaining the new Dust2 Self-Boost Change in CS2
Many players might overlook these small updates, and the patch notes simply read: "Modified crate stack outside CT spawn towards bombsite A" for the Dust2 change. Well, it turns out you can now self-boost up the crates in Dust2 from the CT spawn to A Site or, arguably more important, Catwalk.
Valve even shared a small video on X, which you can view below. The video showcases just how easy it is now for players to climb up those boxes.

So what's the big deal? Well, this change has the potential to throw off timings on Dust2. The change shouldn't affect timings for B Site or A site defense really, but the ability to get up Catwalk without any help should allow a CT to get into position in mid a bit faster.
Valve also made some small adjustments to a few other maps, added PGL Major Copenhagen trophies to player profiles, and more. Check out the patch notes for the 23/24 July 2024 update below. Click on the patch notes to expand.

It will be interesting to see how this change on Dust2 impacts the CT and T-side tactics or how teams adjust their timings, especially for contesting mid.
