Relatively unknown Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) AWPer, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, joined Team Liquid in mid-July 2024 as part of the roster rebuild, which saw Casper "cadiaN" Møller, moved to the bench and the departure of coach Wilton "zews" Prado. Liquid added Justin "jks" Savage and coach Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg.

Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak has huge boots to fill, replacing the Danish legend, cadiaN, as the new AWPer; well, from the opening match of Group D at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024, it seems that Liquid made the right roster moves.
Liquid vs. Virtus.pro It was Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak's first S-Tier match of his career, and the Polish youngster didn't disappoint. On Liquid's map pick of Ancient, it was a massive back-and-forth affair with triple overtime and the map ending 22-20 in Liquid's favor.
Ultimate held his own under immense pressure and went up against AWP veteran Dzhami "Jame" Ali. Two moments really stood out for us, the first being the A site defense in the first round of overtime, where Ultimate picked up three kills in a 3v2 situation.
The second highlight was as high-impact as you can get. The teams were tied 20-20 in overtime when Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak showed immense big match temperament to pick up four kills and secure the round, three with the Big Green, and one Glock headshot. From here, Liquid went on to win the 42nd round and, thereby, the map.
It is safe to say that Liquid might have broken Virtus.pro in the slugfest on Ancient. On Dust2, Liquid demolished Virtus.pro with a quick 13-6 win to claim the series 2-0 and move on to face NAVI at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024.
In the end, it was Liquid's Danish IGL, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, who led by example, topping the scoreboard for the series with 55 kills / 35 deaths and an HLTV player rating of 1.35. However, it was Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak's solid performance in his first S-Tier event that gives us confidence in the new Liquid's future.
