Following the surprising early exit of MOUZ, Team Vitality looked to be the favorite to win IEM Dallas 2024. Vitality made their dominance abundantly clear in the playoffs, beating both HEROIC and Team Spirit with clean 2-0 sweeps.

On the other side of the bracket, G2 Esports wasn't the favorite, as they were without their IGL, Danish star Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, for IEM Dallas 2024 due to a personal scheduling conflict. In HooXi's place, we saw entry fragger Jake "Stewie2K" Yip substitute. Despite being without their IGL, G2 Esports shocked the crowd as they 2-0'd FaZe Clan and then 9z Team to make it to the grand final.

In the grand final of IEM Dallas 2024, the 100th IEM event, G2's map pick of Inferno was as close as it could possibly get. Both sides won their halves 7-5, leading to a 12-12 round score and therefore, overtime. Even in the first overtime, one couldn't separate the sides, and G2 eventually won in double overtime with heroics from young AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač.

On Vitality's map pick, Anubis, the teams again forced overtime, with 7-5 halves each. This time, over, Team Vitality clawed their way back with a 4-1 in overtime to secure a win on Anubis and force the grand final to a third and final map. One rarely sees two overtimes in a best-of-three grand final!

In the grand final's deciding map, Nuke, it was an exceptionally close first-half of play. However, when G2 Esports switched to the CT side, they ran away with it, closing out the grand final of IEM Dallas with a 2-1 victory.
