G2 Survives FaZe Scare in Group A of BLAST Fall Final 2024

In Group A of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, NAVI opened with a strong 2-0 performance against Team Falcons. Then, in the second match of the tournament's group stage, G2 Esports clashed against FaZe Clan. The latter has been on a bit of a downward trend in recent events, ranking 7th globally compared to G2 Esports' 3rd-place.

G2 Esports was the clear favorite to win the match. On G2's map pick of Dust2, they struggled a bit in the first half, with a 6-6 scoreline. I just loved how FaZe Clan pulled back some rounds with heroics, such as a 2v1 clutch from Latvian AWPer Helvijs "broky" Saukants.

However, in the second half of Dust2 on the T-side, the young AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov put up a devastating performance, ending FaZe Clan's hopes with relative ease as the dust settled at 13-7.

On G2 Esports' map pick of Inferno, the squad continued their win streak with four rounds in a row. However, FaZe Clan dug deep and started to mount a comeback, as they ended up winning the first half 8-4 on the CT side.

In the second half, as the teams switched sides, FaZe Clan didn't give G2 Esports much to work with and choked out G2's economy. FaZe Clan won Inferno 13-6 and thereby forced a third and deciding map, Mirage.

On Mirage, G2 kicked off proceedings in style with a quick pistol round win and conversion, seemingly forgetting about the defeat on Inferno. FaZe Clan then retaliated in beautiful fashion, going on a winning streak to put G2 on the backfoot with a 7-3 scoreline before G2 pushed back a bit. The first half of Mirage ends 8-4 in favor of FaZe Clan.

G2 managed to win another pistol round when starting on the T side and converted to edge closer to tying it up against FaZe Clan. With a bit of momentum on their side, G2 Esports mounted an incredible comeback, with FaZe Clan only picking up one single round in the second half. G2 Esports wins Mirage 13-9 and the match 2-1.

G2 Esports will now face NAVI in the Winner's Match in Group A, while FaZe Clan will have to compete against Team Falcons to see who moves on to the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 playoffs and who gets eliminated.
