It's been a wild ride for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports fans as 32 of the best teams in the world competed in Malta during the ESL Pro League Season 20 group stage, where we saw the CS2 kill record on LAN being broken by Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, and some surprising results.

Specifically, defending champions and one of the top teams in the world, MOUZ, were knocked out VERY early on; a team ranked 27th in the world (M80) managed to claim the top spot in Group C, securing a direct spot in the Quarterfinals, while the likes of Astralis and MOUZ got eliminated.

With 16 teams eliminated, we will see the final 16 teams compete at ESL Pro League Season 20 from 17 to 22 September 2024. The playoffs feature a single-elimination bracket format, where all matches are BO3, except the grand finale, which is BO5.
