Warzone tactical rifle tier list - Every tac. rifle ranked from best to worst for Season 5 Reloaded

Tactical rifles received changes across the board for Season 5 Reloaded. Which one's the best now?
Warzone tactical rifle tier list - Every tac. rifle ranked from best to worst for Season 5 Reloaded

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded promised a big meta shakeup, with plenty of balance changes to some of the most notable weapons in the free-to-play battle royale.

Tactical rifles have had a lot of time in the spotlight, despite dropping out of it in recent months. Perhaps most notable, the DMR 14 became a huge problem early in the year due to its accuracy and fast TTK (time-to-kill), with Raven Software nerfing the gun into the ground.

Looking to make amends, the DMR 14 receive slight buffs that proved to be a bit too much, with a hotfix quickly issued mere hours later to tune the weapon's damage.

The DMR was far from the only tactical rifle that got some changes, with other less favourable ones like the Type 64 receiving a bit of a rework, tuning the damage values across the board.

Will these be enough to propel tac rifles to the place they once belonged?

Warzone Season 5 tactical rifle tier list

Worth reminding people that tier lists are not completely accurate, and especially early on, as there's a lot that can change in the upcoming weeks, including exploits players can find or patches devs can drop.

With that said, let's get started.

Description of the tiers

A visual representation of how our tier lists work. (Picture: Tiermaker)
  • S-Tier: The best of the best. Even with mediocre attachments, this tactical rifle can melt faces off.
  • A-Tier: With the right attachments, these tactical rifles can still deliver some great damage in Warzone Season 5 Reloaded.
  • B-Tier: This tactical rifle can't really compete with the S-Tier. However, if you pick all the right attachments they can get the job done.
  • C-Tier: Not really worth it but still useable if you prefer this tactical rifle. It can work in certain situations.
  • D-Tier: The trash tier. Avoid this weapon at all costs since there are better options to choose from.

S-Tier

After initial buffs, Ravensoft decided to reduce the damage multipliers of the DMR, however, experienced players will take more advantage of the recoil rework, maximising, even more, the damage they're able to pump out as a result.

It's a close call between the DMR and the M16, but we believe the revamped DMR 14 takes the cake.

A-Tier

m16
The M16 is still as solid as ever. (Picture: Activision)

The M16 is as reliable as ever, if not more after it got its recoiled reduced (not to be confused with the "recoil rework" the DMR 14 got) for Season 5 Reloaded. Keeping the same damage values, the M16 still loses out due to how much more the DMR 14 takes advantage of these so-called Weapon Kick changes, but it's a solid choice if you already have a loadout built.

B-Tier

The Type-63 has been reworked for Season 5 Reloaded. (Picture: Activision)

Perhaps a bit of a controversial pick, but we believe the Type-63 is not a better choice than the AUG. Why? While the gun lost headshot, upper, and lower torso multipliers (with the neck one receiving a buff), it also got a Weapon Kick reduction, meaning it's not way more reliable in terms of constant DPS.

C-Tier

You may be reading the notes, seeing the AUG got its "recoil decreased" and wonder, why did we lower the gun in our tier list? Simply put, the changes aren't as noticeable. Terminology in Warzone can be tricky, but to keep things simple, Weapon Kick being reduced is an overall better change as it can be harder to control than weapon recoil.

D-Tier

The only tactical rifle that didn't receive any changes, it's almost as if the developers forgot it exists, and quite frankly, you should too. Avoid at all costs.

So there you have it, all the tactical rifles ranked from best to worst at the start of Warzone Season 5 Reloaded. Disagree with our list? We don't care. Want to be more disappointed? Check out our Assault RifleSMGLMGSniper and shotgun tier lists.
