The Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 update has arrived and signals the end of an era after Raven Software announced that it will soon retire its famed Verdansk map. Beyond this, there is a slew of new content, such as revamped POIs, a shiny new battle pass, and new Operators.
There are also five new weapons, including the 410 Ironhide shotgun, Grav assault rifle and Battle Axe melee weapon, which were released at launch; as well as the LAPA submachine gun (SMG) and Hammer & Sickle, which will be released later this season. Finally, there is, of course, the usual weapon balance and attachment changes.
Raven Software contends that the meta is in a good place and did not make any balance changes to weapons in the SMG weapon class, but may fine-tune certain weapons as the season progresses. With that said, here's our tier list of the best SMGs to use at the start of Warzone Season 6, ranked from best to worst based on the current meta.
Warzone Season 6 SMG tier list
Submachine guns are the kings of close-quarters combat, offering great mobility, rapid-firing rates and decent damage output.
Some SMGs may be kitted out with attachments that help improve their effective range, making them more akin to an assault rifle. Other SMGs are great on their own.
Description of the tiers
- S-Tier: Meta picks for Warzone Season 6, with the right attachments these could be considered overpowered.
- A-Tier: While not quite worthy of a seat at the top table, they are still absolute shredders and more than capable of dominating Verdansk.
- B-Tier: In the right hand, and with the right attachments, these SMGs can still bop. Just make sure you know what you're doing with them.
- C-Tier: Don't pick these up there are other options.
- D-Tier: Don't pick these up even if there aren't other options.
Submachine gun tier list
There are 21 submachine guns in Warzone Season 6, including the LAPA SMG that will be added later on this season.
While we endeavour to always have our tier lists as accurate as possible, keep in mind that these tier lists aren't an exact science.
The developers may also choose to either nerf or buff weapons throughout the season as well. When this occurs, we will update our SMG tier list accordingly.
S-Tier:
The Bullfrog is currently the best SMG to use in Warzone Season 6 and shined in the previous season, thanks to its fantastic bullet velocity and large ammunition capacity. The OTs9 is another worthy contender and shreds enemies in the close range. The MAC-10 is also equally powerful and boasts the fastest TTK out of all the SMGs, making it a true powerhouse this season.
A-Tier:
These weapons are strong picks to use this season. The LC-10, for example, has fantastic recoil and is reliable for melting enemies in the short and medium-range. The MP5 (CW and MW) pack high damage with solid recoil control and are some of the easiest weapons to use in Warzone Season 6. The Milano and PPSh-41 are also strong weapons that pack remarkable damage, especially when paired with the perfect loadout.
B-Tier:
The Fennec was once a powerhouse weapon and still offers players one of the fastest fire rates in the game but has limited range. The CX-9 and Tec-9 were also once very strong weapons, but have slid down to the B-tier in the latest season. These weapons can still be viable but will require the perfect loadout to contend with A-tier or S-tier class SMGs in Warzone Season 6.
C-Tier:
- Uzi
- AUG
- P90
- PP19 Bizon
These weapons are mediocre at best and while they are not terrible, they are good as common floor loot in the early game. The PP19 Bizon, for example, has very low TTK and poor damage and is simply not worth keeping later into the game.
D-Tier:
- ISO SMG
- Nail Gun
- Striker 45
- KSP-45
These weapons are not worth considering and are outperformed by every other weapon on our list.
