How to fix Warzone fatal error unknown function: possible solutions

The latest Call of Duty Warzone update from 3rd June marked the end of the '80s Action Heroes event, but for some players, it brought unexpected troubles.

As reported by a number of players via the Warzone subreddit, it seems that following the update some players are experiencing a fatal error that prevents them from playing the game.

According to the reports, it seems that the issue is almost universal are players are getting the same error on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

But why is this Warzone "unknown function" Fatal Error occurring and how to fix it?

It seems that this crashing problem in Warzone is currently really hard to fix, as players are reporting they have tried a number of steps and they are not helping.

For PC players, it has been reported that neither Windows nor Warzone reinstallation won't help.

Safe mode and scan and repair are not working either, and it seems that GPU drivers are not the problem, as updating (or rolling back) drivers didn't help.

Signing out of your Activision account and signing back won't do the trick either.

Players simply launch the game and it crashes soon after with the message "fatal error unknown function".

As of now, the only possible solution to bypass this problem is to have a friend invite you directly to a lobby, as several players confirmed that this "fix" will work and you will be able to play the game.

"Sorry there is no way to fix it, Activision has to do it but there is a way around it have your friend invite you to a lobby it works for me you can join or get invited to their lobby," wrote TheOnlyOneLeft203.

Another Warzone player confirmed that this workaround will help.

"Hey guys I just had this problem and I fixed it. I just had a friend invite me and I bypassed the whole error. Enjoy! Worked for me not sure if it will for everyone," Specdropper posted on the Warzone subreddit.

So there you have it, if you are experiencing Warzone fatal error unknown function, it seems that the only possible solution right now is for some of your friends to invite you directly to the game.

As this error still prevents a number of players to enjoy the game, hopefully, Activision and Raven will deploy a permanent solution as soon as possible.
