The Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 update has arrived and signals the end of an era after Raven Software announced that it will soon retire its famed Verdansk map. Beyond this, there is (per the usual) a slew of new content, including revamped POIs, a shiny new battle pass, new Operators, five new weapons (including the 410 Ironhide shotgun and Grav assault rifle), and of course, weapon balance and attachment changes.
Although the Assault Rifle (AR) weapons class received nerfs to just two of its weapons, namely the C58 and EM2, we expect the new meta to be shaken up in a massive way. Raven Software noted they feel the meta is in a good place now but may fine-tune certain weapons as the season progresses.
With that said, here's our tier list of the best assault rifles to use at the start of Warzone Season 6, ranked from best to worst based on the current meta.
Warzone Season 6 Assault Rifle tier list
Assault rifles are all-purpose guns and the most-used class in the game. Depending on the attachments and loadout used, they can be designed for a multitude of playstyles.
Description of the tiers
- S-Tier: The best of the best. Even with mediocre attachments, these guns are better than half of the other assault rifles on the list.
- A-Tier: Using the best attachments for these ARs in Warzone Season 6 can pay off with great effect and even rival the S-Tier with the perfect loadout.
- B-Tier: The middle of the pack ARs for Warzone Season 6. Using the perfect loadout allows you to compete with players boasting the A-Tier weapons. These are great for specific situations or playstyles.
- C-Tier: These ARs shouldn't be your primary weapon and should be used circumstantially with another weapon.
- D-Tier: This is labelled the "trash tier" weapons list. ARs in this tier should not be included in your loadout at all.
AR tier list
There are 23 assault rifles in Warzone Season 6, including the recently added Grav Assault Rifle. While we endeavour to always have our tier lists as accurate as possible, keep in mind that these tier lists aren't an exact science.
The developer can, however, choose to either nerf or buff weapons throughout the season as well. When this occurs, we will update this list.
Below, all 23 assault rifles in Warzone Season 6 are ranked from best to worst.
S-Tier
The latest Warzone meta has seen a rise in popularity of the AK-47 (CW) and XM4, with prior "go-to" weapons like the EM2 and C58 becoming dethroned following a string of nerfs. The AK-47 (CW) is arguably one of the best weapons to use, boasting the fastest TTK in the game. Its only setback is its poor recoil control but it is closely tied to the Krig 6.
The XM4 is another elite weapon to use in Warzone Season 6 and is great for destroying enemies in the mid-range. The XM4 has a lower TTK than the AK-47 (CW) but significantly better control. If you're a fan of the M4A1 then you'll really enjoy the XM4.
A-Tier
The EM2 and C58 drop to the A-tier this season following nerfs to their recoil control. They're both still strong weapons to use but lack versatility comparable to weapons in the S-tier.
We've yet to decide how well the Grav will fair this season, so we have tentatively put in the A-tier for now. Raven Software says that the Grav is a full-auto assault rifle with the fastest bullet velocity in its class, with modest damage and moderate recoil.
B-Tier
The B-tier includes some decent weapons, like the CR-56 AMAX, which was once prized for its unfathomable power. Unfortunately, following a menu of nerfs, these weapons found themselves dropped into the lower tiers of our list. While weapons like the FFAR 1, AS VAL and QBZ-83, are still viable, they will require the right loadout to truly shine.
C-Tier
These weapons have certainly fallen out of favour but may still be viable under very specific circumstances. We would recommend that you choose any weapon from the tiers above.
D-Tier
- Oden
- FR 5.56
- AK-47 (MW)
These weapons lack damage and reliability and should not be included in your arsenal at the start of Warzone Season 6. They're not good options given their poor stats, relative to any of the other weapons that we have on this list.
