With the release of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 now confirmed, many players are eagerly awaiting more news about the content we can expect from the next mainline title in the COD franchise. One particular aspect that many are curious about is the return of the coveted Zombie mode, a popular feature in almost all previous COD Black Ops titles.
Fortunately, there are strong indications that we will indeed see a Zombies mode in the next Black Ops title, along with the probable return of the GobbleGum system. Let's delve into the details and discuss the likely comeback of Zombies and the GobbleGum system in Black Ops 6.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Might Bring Back Zombies and the GobbleGum System
The PvE wave-mechanic Zombies mode has been a staple in every Call of Duty Black Ops game for nearly two decades, first appearing in 2008 as an added mode for Call of Duty: World at War. So far, Treyarch has given no official indication that the game mode will return in Black Ops 6, but based on leakers' suggestions, it seems more than likely.

User @BlackOps6Intel posted a short clip featuring a 1-second glimpse of what appears to be the Zombies game mode, showing a couple of operators running through and shooting into a horde of enemies that look like the undead. Additionally, the same user recently posted a supposed leak showcasing the Black Ops 6 Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses, which included many features, most notably the GobbleGums.
For those unaware, GobbleGums are somewhat controversial items that appeared in the Zombies mode of previous Black Ops titles. They granted players unique bonuses, abilities, or effects to use against hordes of zombies, providing a combat advantage. Seeing their presence in the leaked pre-order bonuses makes a Zombies mode all the more likely, if not nearly confirmed.
Of course, even with these convincing leaks, we can't fully say whether Zombies will be returning, but it seems far more likely than not, and we are excited about its potential return. Be sure to tune in to the Black Ops 6 Direct presentation on June 9th, as it will almost certainly reveal details about Zombies and hopefully some gameplay. We will be reporting on it as soon as it's out, so stay tuned for more!
