With the return of zombies and a fresh multiplayer experience, many are excited about the split-screen opportunities in Call of Duty Black Ops 6. The idea of going back to the old days of getting comfy on the couch to shoot some zombies with your friends sounds great, but it seems that our desires are being cut slightly short.

Black Ops 6 will feature a limited split-screen system, which might damper your group play sessions. If you don't know the details, it's time to get caught up. Below, we'll discuss all the details of the split-screen feature coming in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Will Have A Two-Way Split-Screen Mode Limited to Nex-Gen Consoles

Yes, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will feature a split-screen option for those wanting to play at home with a friend. And we say "a" friend very selectively there. The reason for this is that Black Ops 6 will only offer a two-way split-screen option, and it will only be available for next-gen consoles, which might be a disappointment for many players on PC, last-gen consoles, or those who want to play with more than one friend.

Initially, this was just a rumor, but Activision has confirmed it. In their blog post, they stated, "Split-screen gameplay (two players sharing a screen) for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Split-screen gameplay will not be supported on Xbox One or PlayStation 4." This is especially disappointing for those looking forward to a four-player split-screen in zombie mode.

Interestingly, the blog also noted that Black Ops 6 will require an internet connection to play, adding an extra layer of difficulty for those who just want to play casually. Coupled with the limited multiplayer/couch-coop options, it raises concerns about how well Black Ops 6 will fare with casual fans returning to the series for the new, hyped-up title.

Regardless, it's still a sad day for many players who were hoping to return to the old days of couch co-op with friends. But at least the multiplayer and zombie modes will be fantastic, and while you can't split-screen, you can still play online with as many friends as you want.
