It’s no secret that the Ray Gun is one of the most iconic and powerful weapons across all Zombies maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and the new map, Shattered Veil, is no exception. However, this time around, it’s received a major upgrade as Shattered Veil introduces the Ray Gun Mark 2. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps required to get your hands on the Ray Gun Mark 2 in Shattered Veil.

How to Get the Ray Gun Mark 2 in BO6 Zombies Shattered Veil

Before you can upgrade the Ray Gun, you'll first need to get your hands on one—and since the Ray Gun Mk 2 is required for the Shattered Veil main quest, it’s best to grab it early. There are two ways to do this. The first is through the Mystery Box, where the Ray Gun Mk 2 has a chance to drop. This method is the easiest, but it's RNG-based, so you might need to spend a fair bit of Essence before it appears.

The second method takes more effort but guarantees the weapon. It involves solving a series of puzzles scattered around the map. While it takes more time, it’s a reliable way to secure the Ray Gun Mk 2 without depending on luck. Here's how to complete that process.

Step 1: Reach Round 10 and Unlock Pack-a-Punch

Play through Shattered Veil until you reach Round 10. Then, head to the underground level of the mansion to activate the Pack-a-Punch machine.

Step 2: Get the Floppy Disk

After activating Pack-a-Punch, a special zombie called the Lab Technician will spawn. It has glowing purple eyes. Kill it to get a quest item called the Floppy Disk.

Step 3: Use the Fax Machine

Take the Floppy Disk to the fax machine in the east foyer, near the Stamin-Up machine. Interact with the nearby PC to start the fax process. Zombies will spawn, so hold them off until the fax finishes.

Step 4: Receive the Code Word

Once the fax completes, interact with it to receive a code word in all caps (e.g., WORM or CRAB). Write it down—you’ll need it soon.

Step 5: Convert the Word to a Number Code

Go to the nursery room on the mansion’s west side, near the PhD Flopper machine. Look at the chalkboard with word groups.

For each letter in your code word:

• Find which group it belongs to.
• Count how many letters are in that group.
• That number represents the letter. (e.g., W is in a 7-letter group, so it equals 7).

Do this for all four letters to get your 4-digit code (e.g., WORM = 7671). The words and groups are random in each game, but the method stays the same.

Step 6: Unlock and Defeat the Doppelghast

Head to the mansion’s underground and exit through the tunnel door. You’ll see a locked door with the Doppelghast behind it and a keypad nearby. Enter your 4-digit code to open the door and start the fight. The Doppelghast fights like the ones in Citadelle des Morts, so be prepared. Once defeated, it drops the Severed Arm.

Step 7: Get the Ray Gun Mark 2

Take the Severed Arm to the Armory. Use it on the panel next to the display case holding the Ray Gun. This unlocks the case, letting you claim your free Ray Gun Mark 2, and get yourself ready to upgrade it to its other variants.
