Once you get out of Baldur's Gate 3's first Act, you're introduced to a completely new area known as the Shadowlands. This is an area of the world tortured by darkness, with Shadows that corrupt all that they get their hands on and damage you if you go through them without enchantment or item. There's one solitary area in the darkness known as the Last Light Inn where you can rest, and it's here that you'll find a Cleric called Isobel.
Should you help Marcus or Isobel?
When you get to Last Light Inn, you're directed upstairs to talk to Isobel but as you talk to her, somebody will appear on her balcony to take her away to Ketheric Thorm. You have a choice here: you can either let Marcus, the man on the balcony, take her away, or you can try and stop him.
If you side with Marcus though, the ward around Last Light Inn disappears, meaning that there's no longer a safe area for you to go. This also means that every character in the area except for the Druid Jaheira dies, completely ending all quests you could possibly get here. However, due to your loyalty, Ketheric Thorm will now trust you and you have an in.
However, if you choose to help Isobel, then the ward around Last Light Inn is intact. You can now continue with the quests that you get in the location, but you will lose the ability to get close to Ketheric earlier in the game, which could cause issues later.
It's worth noting that if you choose the latter option, you need to make sure that Isobel's health never hits zero or she'll be kidnapped immediately. Have a healer on hand to increase her health whenever it gets low, and try and guard her as much as possible.
