Lenore's Arcane Tower in Baldur's Gate 3 is an intriguing place. Tucked away in a secluded corner of the Underdark, it's full of strange flowers, robots, and decent loot. However, the tower's biggest secrets are hidden away in its basement.
Getting into Arcane Tower's basement is tricky, especially if you haven't thoroughly explored the other floors. If you're having trouble navigating this bizarre location, you're in the right place. Here's our guide, which explains how to reach the Arcane Tower basement.
How To Unlock The Arcane Tower Basement In Baldur's Gate 3
To unlock the basement in Arcane Tower, you need the Guiding Light ring from Bernad, the robot NPC on the topmost floor. To reach there, you first must activate the generator to get the elevator running.
Once the elevator is working, go to the second and third floors of the tower and scoop them out for Lenore's books. You will find two books and a letter. Read them before heading to the top of the tower.
Talk to Bernard, and it will quote the line from the books you read earlier in the tower. Select the "Or art thou friend, a rescue from my lonely wake?" dialogue, and Bernard and its robot companions will become temporarily friendly.
If you don't want to fight Bernard, choose the "How can I trust? How will I ever know? How can I show myself, my darkest me?" dialogue option, and it will place the Guiding Light ring on a nearby table. Simply pick it up and equip it on any of the party members to reveal the switch to open the basement. Using the elevator will now directly take you to the basement.
If you fancy a fight, choose instead the "There is a light in every living being. It's crawling towards the surface to survive." dialogue option. It will be a tough battle, especially if you're below level 5. Once Bernard is down, loot its corpse to get the Light of Creation Two-Handed Halberd.
Once you're in the basement, go to the desk and grab the staff of Arcane Blessing. Next to the staff, you will find two Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores. Hold on to these two items, as you will need them for the "Investigate the Parasite" quest. In addition to these, you will also find a couple of scrolls and basilisk oil.
And that's it! Your adventurous trip to the Arcane Tower in Baldur's Gate 3 should come to an end here unless you missed out on something.
