Now that The Center has been released in ARK: Survival Ascended, players can get their hands on new tames, such as the previously announced Shastasaurus. This large sea-dwelling creature is not only beautiful to look at, but it also offers several unique mechanics that make it worth the taming effort.
In this guide, we will show you exactly how to locate and tame a Shastasaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended The Center, as well as provide insights into what makes this creature such a useful tame. So, without further delay, let's jump right in.
How To Tame The Shastasaurus On The Center Map In ASA
The Shestasaurus unveiled as the seventh Creature Vote winner back in September of last year, has finally made its debut in the Center Map. Resembling a colossal whale-like dino, this creature not only proves to be a formidable tame but also boasts the capability to function as a mobile underwater base, akin to the Oasisaur's abilities in Scorched Earth.
Taming one of these massive beasts is a relatively straightforward process if you know what you're doing. Firstly, gather your resources, including a full Scuba set, a rideable water tame such as an Ichthyosaurus, taming food (preferably Kibble) for a carnivore, and a Sickle (you'll understand its use in a bit).
Now equipped, it's time to locate a Shestasaurus, typically found in the deeper waters around the map, predominantly on the eastern side of the Center. We advise attempting to isolate one from a group to simplify the taming process, as dealing with a group of them can prove challenging when aggroed. Once you have singled one out, prepare for the mini-game to tame the creature.
To initiate this process, approach the Shestasaurus on your Ichthyosaurus and equip your sickle. swim in front of it which will prompt it to swim after you and towards the surface of the water. Once it reaches the top of the water and ceases movement, a mini-game ensues where you must utilize the sickle to dislodge leeches attached to its body.
You have a limited timeframe to remove all the leeches, but the Scuba set aids in this process by enhancing your swimming speed. Once all the leeches are eradicated, proceed to feed the Shestasaurus with your taming food, automatically initiating the taming process. While slightly time-consuming, this method is relatively low-risk, provided you avoid aggravating more than one Shestasaurus during the process.
In summary, this guide provides a comprehensive breakdown of locating and taming the Shestasaurus in ARK Survival Ascended: The Center.
