While the concept of builds may initially appear incongruent with the game mechanics of ARK Survival Ascended, they do exist and prove particularly beneficial in various scenarios. Builds, akin to those found in other games, leverage the stats of your character, and the allocation of these stats determines the specific build your character embodies.
If this is your first encounter with specialized builds in the game or if you seek an overview of the current meta builds, continue reading. In the following sections, we will dissect the current best builds to employ in ARK Survival Ascended.
Best Builds To Use in ARK Survival Ascended
The builds in ARK Survival Ascended are dependent on where you put your skill points. For instance, allocating a lot of skill points into crafting creates a "crafting build" character, and so forth. Thankfully, you aren't locked into your builds and can use a Mindwipe tonic at any point to respec your character and regain your skill points to create a different build.
Now that you have the basics down, let's discuss the current meta builds in ARK Survival Ascended, of which there are 6 (though two have PvP and PvE variants, but we will cover them as well), and how to set them up. These builds require 100+ levels at a minimum to sink into your character, so be sure you're adequately leveled to attain the desired build.
The All-Rounder Build
All-round builds, as their name implies, focus on a character that needs to survive, fight, and explore. The main areas your skill points will go into are Health, Stamina, Fortitude, and Weight. For PvP, stack points into health and weight, with a few extra points in Stamina and Fortitude. In PvE, allocate almost all your points to health and weight, putting minimal points into Stamina and Fortitude.
The Crafting Build
Crafting builds concentrate on crafting high-level loot and items. Every single point, all 100, is invested in Crafting Skill. This grants a massive crafting bonus on every blueprint crafted, handy for PvP where you can create high-level armaments for your tribe. However, this build is not suited to traversing the island, so keep this in mind before running out there with almost no points In Health or Fortitude.
The Tank Build
This build is especially suited for PvP and is almost a requirement for raiding. The Tank build specializes in soaking up damage, putting nearly all points into health for survivability and the other 30 into Weight. The remaining levels go into Fortitude to stay conscious and not get knocked out by tranquilizers.
The Whale Build
The Whale build features a character with a massive amount of carrying weight. In PvP, allocate points between Weight and Health, ensuring no other tame can pick you up and fly away. In PvE, distribute points among Weight, Health, and Fortitude, providing ample carry weight for items and structures, health for surviving wild dino encounters, and Fortitude for harsh weather conditions.
The PvP Damage Build
Tailored specifically for PvP, this build focuses on characters fighting on the frontlines during raids or defending your base. Allocate points to reach 300 health, 200 stamina, approximately 10 in Fortitude, and the remaining nearly 50 into Melee Damage, ensuring the ability to confidently take down other players with a few attacks, and if you've got a crafting character at your base, you should have some great melee weapons to take into battle, further beefing up this build.
The Explorer Build
Ideal for players, especially newcomers, looking to explore the island/map and become familiar with their surroundings. Start with 50 points in Fortitude for resilience against the environment. Afterward, distribute skill points evenly between Health, Stamina, Weight, and Melee Damage.
