The latest expansion map for ARK: Survival Ascended, Aberration, has arrived, bringing with it a wealth of new creatures and content to explore. Among the new arrivals, the Basilisk makes a return as one of the toughest adversaries you'll encounter. However, taming this formidable creature is well worth the effort if you can manage it.
Fortunately, you don't have to tackle the challenge of taming the Basilisk alone. We’ve got you covered. Below, we’ll guide you through the process of taming your very own Basilisk and discuss the unique abilities this creature offers to assist you on your journey through Aberration.
How To Tame A Basilisk In ARK Survival Ascended Aberration
Basilisks are large, snake-like creatures that move quickly and are formidable predators in the wild. However, taming them can be straightforward if you follow the right method, making the process easier and safer for anyone looking to add a Basilisk to their team.
Unlike traditional taming methods, Baslisks require a fertilized Rock Drake Egg to be tamed. The challenge is getting the Basilisk to eat the egg while it’s aggroed towards you. This is where our taming method using a "taming trap" proves useful.
To set up the taming trap, you need a small tame or shoulder pet, a foundation structure, and the Rock Drake eggs. Start by placing your small tame or shoulder pet on the ground and command it to stay still. Next, place the foundation on top of the pet, which will hide and protect it. Then, place two Rock Drake eggs on top of the foundation.
After setting up the trap, aggro the Basilisk and lead it toward the trap. The Basilisk will focus on the small creature underneath the foundation and attempt to bite it. During this process, it will also consume the eggs placed on top, leading to its immediate taming.
Basilisk Abilities In ASA Aberration
Now that the Basilisk is part of your team, let's explore its abilities, benefits, and the various roles it can fulfill in Aberration.
Jack-of-All-Trades Mount:
- The Basilisk is incredibly versatile, with high weight capacity, speed, and strength, making it an excellent choice for travel, transport, and combat.
Dino Tamer:
- The Basilisk’s primary attack inflicts Torpor, similar to the Pulmonoscorpius, applying 3x of the damage dealt over 10 seconds.
Long Distance Transport:
- With one of the highest base carrying capacities among non-Titanosaur creatures, the Basilisk excels at long-distance transport, surpassing most other creatures. Additionally, it provides a 75% weight reduction on Stone.
Warrior:
- In combat, the Basilisk is a formidable fighter with powerful melee damage, poison breath, and the ability to burrow.
Nameless Hunter:
- The Basilisk’s poison breath is particularly effective against Nameless, as it bypasses their armor and enables efficient harvesting of Nameless Venom. This makes the Basilisk a strong choice for dealing with these creatures.
Solo Element Vein Salvager:
- The Basilisk can serve as a substitute for an Argentavis in solo Element Vein runs. It allows for safe underground travel and eliminates the need to manage cryopods for a Mantis, making the process of collecting Element Dust more efficient.
