As they advance their sky-bound adventures throughout the archipelago, they'll discover a few less lush, vibrant islands that are unsafe to explore. These islands are plagued with corruption that has extinguished most life forms, like animals and plants, for which players are to defeat the enemies and destroy the nodes to restore the ecosystem.

Once players have crafted a Field Guide, one objective tasks them with adding a decomposer, which is how the Reishi Mushrooms become important. If they wish to learn more about this red-colored fungi, this guide details how to find Reishi Mushrooms, what they're best used for, and what reishi inoculants are in Aloft.

Reishi Mushrooms are one of the few items that players can find in the open world; however, it's quite a tricky one to find. However, if they take the time to explore the islands, they may find these fungi growing in the wild, for which the starting island is one of the earliest locations.

While we don't have specific areas where players can locate Reishi Mushrooms, they can be seen growing on the base of trees. We do recommend looking in the area behind the abandoned house on the starting island where we found Reishi Mushrooms, which can be added to their Inventory.

Players should read this item's in-game description, as it gives them clues on how Reishi Mushrooms can be utilized in Aloft. Its description states that this fungus possesses a unique "healing factor" and can "be milled to release its inoculating properties."

As for its uses, we'll tackle the second part of its description first, as Reishi Mushrooms can be milled, which requires a Millstone to process the fungi. Finding a Millstone will require a Glider to travel to a floating island where they can find a Millstone that they can use to grind the Reishi Mushrooms into Reishi Inoculants.

This item is extremely important as it helps players complete a specific objective within the Field Guide after defeating the mushroom enemies and destroying the nodes. The objective requires players to plant a decomposer, which, using the Reishi Inoculants that are equipped to the hotbar, can be planted at the base of any tree and "introduces decomposers" to the corrupted island.

Planting the Reishi Inoculants is another way for players to get Reishi Mushrooms, which should be incredibly helpful if they need more Reishi Inoculants in the future. We advise storing as many Reishi Mushrooms as possible and trying to limit their uses to restore the ecosystem, but if they have a few to space, Reishi Mushrooms can be used for cooking purposes.
