It's been two weeks since developer Astrolabe Interactive released their sandbox survival game Aloft on PC through Early Access on Steam. Following its release, the developer released a patch update to address critical gameplay adjustments, optimizations, and bug fixes to improve the in-game experiences as Sky Sailors continue exploring the Sky Islands.
They have also provided a post-launch roadmap ahead of the game's Early Access release, which detailed some gameplay content, incoming features, future adjustments, and optimizations coming in 2025 and beyond. While not specifically detailed in the roadmap, Sky Sailors have requested an update on the game's Steam Deck compatibility, for which the developer provided an update in a recent developer post.
This post was published via the Aloft Steam News hub; the developer stated their excitement "that Aloft has been reviewed for the Steam Deck and is now officially marked as "Playable" on Steam!" According to the official Steam Deck page, games like Aloft that are categorized as "Playable" means that they "may require some manual tweaking by the user to play," which the developer further outlined.
"This means that Aloft is compatible with the Deck, but a few adjustments can be made to improve the overall experience." Furthermore, they've stated that they're currently "not actively working on the Steam Deck experience," however, they will be committing to improving this to "achieve Verified status" by addressing key objectives, including new graphical presets for enhanced performance on the Steam Deck and refining the game's "text legibility for small in-game text."
"These updates will ensure an even smoother and more enjoyable journey for our sailors on Deck," the developer concluded their developer post. As for when these Steam Deck adjustments and imporvements will be arriving, they have provided no timeline for when these will be released, for which we'll update this news article once the information has been confirmed.
