Xbox's ID@Xbox team is in attendance at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California, "to celebrate with independent developers who continue to inspire us every day with their ambition, creativity, and passion." The ID@Xbox program, which was launched by Xbox in 2013, saw thousands of indie titles released under the ID@Xbox banner, making them accessible to players on Xbox consoles and PC.

Some of the games released through this program over the years include Among Us, Balatro, Frostpunk 2, Phasmophobia, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and the recently announced 33 Immortals and Scrap Divers. ID@Xbox Director Guy Richards recently revealed how the program has supported independent developers over the years and how it contributed to the games' successes following their launch.

A news post from ID@Xbox Director Guy Richards via Xbox Wire revealed that the program, designed to support independent developers globally and bring their projects to players across consoles and PCs, has seen "more than $5 billion" being generated in revenue. This news comes after it was announced by Xbox VP of Next Generation, Jason Ronald, that 1,000 games are Xbox Play Anywhere supported titles, meaning they can play any supported titles on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.

Ronald iterated that following the announcement of this milestone, “When we look at data for titles that are Xbox Play Anywhere enabled, these titles get 20% more gameplay because it’s more flexible because I can play on the go.” Additionally, if players own an Xbox Play Anywhere supported title, they can carry over their game saves, progress, and unlocked achievements to more devices like Windows-supporting handhelds like the ASUS ROG Ally X or Legion Go, mobile devices and Amazon and Samsung FireSticks.

The ID@Xbox team hosts developers and studios from ten countries at their "annual hands-on preview event" at GDC 2025, which will spotlight forthcoming independent releases like Detective Dotson, Promise Mascot Academy, and Winter Burrow. Additionally, the upcoming release, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is an ID@Xbox launching title, and its developer, Sandfall Interactive, will also be a part of the GDC 2025 ID@Xbox preview event.
