As the new year prepares to bring another installment in this storied franchise, excitement was high to see who might earn a nod as the WWE 2K24 cover star. One of our predictions did get chosen, but he isn't going to be the only face of WWE 2K24.
For the first time in years, there will be more than one WWE 2K24 cover star across multiple versions of the game. We'll break down each edition below and which one features which WWE 2K24 cover stars.
Who is the WWE 2K24 Cover Star?
With so much focus on his desire to "Finish The Story" and attention by the company since his return, it's no surprise that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes is the WWE 2K24 cover star. While there are other choices for alternate editions that we'll cover below, Rhodes was chosen from the Standard Edition and is the primary WWE 2K24 cover star.
It's a major accomplishment for the grandson of a plumber who was part of AEW Fight Forever even after leaving the company he helped create. The news was revealed on January 22, 2024 after being heavily teased in the days leading up to that announcement.
Deluxe Edition & 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition
We've seen multi-superstar covers from the WWE 2K franchise before, but never like fans will get with WWE 2K24. WWE 2K20 featured Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns together on the cover, but the last combination cover before that was SmackDown vs. Raw 2011. Most of the SmackDown vs. Raw covers featured at least two, if not more, cover stars.
For the WWE 2K24 Deluxe Edition, the cover stars will be Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. Both women are undeniably both the present and future of WWE's women's division, and this puts them center stage like never before. It's also only the third time a female superstar has graced the cover, and this is the first cover exclusively featuring women.
The first was Torrie Wilson along with Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Triple H, and Batista for the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 cover. The second, as mentioned above, was Becky Lynch alongside Roman Reigns for WWE 2K20. As for the WWE 2K24 Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition, it's the most packed cover in series history.
As seen above, the WWE 2K24 cover stars for the Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition include Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Bret Hart, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and Andre the Giant.
The massive combination cober highlights their plans for the 2K Showcase mode which will go back through some of the most iconic WrestleMania moments in history. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant from WrestleMania 3 and Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 look to be just a few of the many moments on display in WWE 2K24.
These superstars are also our first signs of the full WWE 2K24 roster which will continue to be unveiled as the game's release date draws near. We've got more details here on exactly what we know so far about the WWE 2K24 roster.
