Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up to release Phase 2 of the Pre-Expansion update for World of Warcraft Dragonflight. Players can expect more content and lore this time, including a new starting zone, in-game activities, and a new hero class.
The Dracthyr Evoker marks the series' first hybrid hero class, which allows them to switch between forms, but a dark history surrounds them once you begin exploring The Forbidden Reach. Here's everything about the upcoming class, including release dates and times, class details, and more.
21st November 2022 Update: The Dracthyr Evoker is now playable in World of Warcraft. Learn more about the class/race hybrid's specs, details, and starting area as we've updated this article with the latest information.
WoW Dragonflight Dracthyr Evoker – Class Details & Specs
This hero class/race hybrid is the creation of Neltharion, the Earth-Warder capable of transforming between draconic and humanoid forms. No one has seen them for thousands of years, as their disappearance is seemingly connected to the stories of The Forbidden Reach.
Once awake, their journey begins at this starting zone as they begin anew in a new world, trying to restore the memories they once had. Starting at Level 58, players can create their first Dracthyr Evoker how they see fit; however, other Dracthyr Evokers made are limited to one for every realm, and if you have a Level 50 character within that realm, that's not a dracthyr form.
Some of the essential details Blizzard has provided on the Dracthyr Evoker class, as of writing, include the following:
- Class: Evoker
- Character Forms: Dracthyr and Humanoid
- Armor Type: Mail
- Weapon Types: Intellect Daggers, Fist Weapons, Axes, Maces, Swords, Staves
- Class Specializations: Devastation (DPS) and Preservation (Healing)
- Alignment: Horde or Alliance (which are chosen during character creation)
Within the character creation menu, you'll have a broad range of options, including horns, scales, eyes, colors, and other bodily features. You can also select its humanoid form to either match or differ from your draconic form.
WoW Dragonflight Dracthyr Evoker – Starting Zone
This update includes a new zone, The Forbidden Reach, accompanying the release of the Dracthyr Evoker class/race hybrid. This starting zone was previously the training grounds of the fabled black dragonflight before the grounds were left to ruins.
Located off the Dragon Isles' coast, this starting zone was first built by Neltharion, the Earth-Warder, to train his loyal soldiers, the dracthyr. However, a great battle ensued, destroying the island that remained inactive.
According to lore, a few dragons still know of this location's existence but never dare to seek it out if one wishes to head straight into danger. The Forbidden Reach consists of vast underground chambers beneath the island where you can find a horde of dracthyr placed in a magical stasis for thousands of years, and it's why these soldiers will arise from the inactive status before setting foot again in The Forbidden Reach.
WoW Dragonflight Dracthyr Evoker – New Dungeon
During the pre-expansion event, Primal Storms, a new difficulty dungeon, will be made available to players to participate. The Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr Normal Difficulty dungeon can be accessed within the Badlands Zone in the Eastern Kingdoms.
Players familiar with Classic World of Warcraft will know the entrance to the original Uldaman for which this new dungeon's entrance is nearby. The dungeon features five different bosses to battle against but retains the classic gameplay experience of the original dungeon event with varying differences.
Additionally, you'll encounter various characters that can either be friendly or enemy as you progress in finding the Discs of Norgannon. As of writing, you can queue for the Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr Normal Difficulty dungeon before it becomes live on the servers upon the full launch of Dragonflight on 28th November 2022.
