What to expect at Xbox Games Showcase 2022 - Starfield, Avowed, Gears of War 6, more

Xbox recently announced its big E3 style summer event, Xbox Games Showcase 2022, which takes place on 12th June 2022. The company has yet to confirm its runtime, but if the recent rumors and Xbox's last year's showcase are any indications, fans can expect a 90 minutes show brimming with new game announcements, world premiers, and gameplay deep dive down of the long-awaited Xbox and Bethesda titles.

Granted, this is Xbox's biggest game show of the year, fans can expect some shocking announcements and re-reveals from Xbox's ever-growing list of first-party studios. With that said, here are all the games we expect to see at Xbox Games Showcase 2022.

Starfield

The elephant in the room, Starfield, is undoubtedly Xbox's most anticipated holiday 2022 title. Expectations are sky-high from Bethesda Game Studio's first new IP in over 25 years, and fans should expect an extensive gameplay demonstration by BGS' Todd Howard at Xbox Game Showcase.

There's also a slight possibility that fans will get a short Starfield teaser or story trailer at this year's Summer Games Fest, which takes place on the 9th June. However, it's more than likely that Bethesda and Xbox will save up the big gameplay demonstration and deep-dive of Starfield for this year's  Xbox Games Showcase.

Redfall

Redfall is yet another big Xbox exclusive dropping this summer. A vampire co-op looter shooter, Redfall is currently in development at Arkane Austin, the studio responsible for 2017's Prey. 

Sadly, we haven't heard or seen much of Redfall since its reveal at last year's Xbox Games Showcase, aside from the leaked screenshots that aren't representative of the final product.

If Redfall is still indeed planned to release in the summer of 2022, fans can expect extensive marketing for the game, including story trailers, gameplay demos, interviews, and more, all of which should begin at this year's Xbox Games Showcase.

Senua's Saga Hellblade 2

The highly anticipated sequel to 2017's dark and disturbing psychological adventure, Hellblade, Senua's Saga Hellblade 2, looks to raise industry standards through its picturesque next-gen visuals and raw cinematic storytelling that made the original such a hit in the first place.

Hellblade 2 has been a long time coming, and the gameplay trailer that we got at The Game Awards 2021 only fueled everyone's excitement for the final product. We don't expect Ninja Theory to announce Hellblade 2's release date at this year's Xbox Game Showcase, but another gameplay trailer shouldn't be too surprising.

Gears of War 6 / The Coalition's new IP

It's been almost three years since The Coalition dropped Gears 5, and the studio remains awfully quiet about its next project. Multiple rumours and reports suggest that the studio is working on two new projects - a brand new IP and Gears of War 6.

The new IP, which allegedly is a small-scale project, will supposedly release before Gears 6.  As such, fans can expect a world premiere for this new IP and, if they are lucky, a teaser for Gears of War 6 alongside it.

Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming Skyrimesque open-world action RPG enthralled everyone with its grand reveal trailer at 2020's Xbox Games Showcase. Since then, we haven't seen nor heard much about Avowed, other than some unconfirmed rumors about its gameplay mechanics and open-world design. 

Avowed was notably missing at 2021's Xbox Games Showcase, and it's high time that it makes a grand comeback with a full gameplay reveal alongside a release window at this year's Xbox Games Showcase event.

Zenimax Online Studios' new MMO RPG / Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle

The studio behind the ever-evolving Elder Scrolls Online has been working on a brand new MMO RPG since at least 2018. This information first came from numerous job listings that specifically mentioned Zenimax's new IP.

Since then, the lead graphics engineer at ZeniMax Online Studios, Alex Tardif, has confirmed that the studio is working on a brand new game engine to power (presumably) the new game the studio is working on. 

Elder Scrolls Online is getting its latest yearly expansion, High Isle, this June, so fans can expect a ton of focus on that, but a short teaser for what's next for Zenimax would also be welcoming. 

Halo Infinite Season 3 - campaign co-op, forge mode, and new maps

Halo Infinite Season 2 is finally live, but not without its fair share of problems. The Season 2 update has brought a plethora of new game-breaking issues that need fixing. Furthermore, the new game modes like the Last Spartan Standing need a lot of tweaking, especially its weapon load-outs.

In short, Halo Infinite still lacks a healthy amount of meaningful content that fans crave and expect from a free-to-play live service game of such a caliber. The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase is an incredible platform to put the spotlight back on Halo Infinite and showcase some of the most demanded features and game modes that could turn the tides of what is undoubtedly the most fun to play Halo game ever.

These are all the games we expect to see at Xbox Games' Showcase 2022.
