Twitch Rivals: Legends of Runeterra Showdown - How to watch, latest meta changes and most used decks

Things are starting to heat up for the competitive Legends of Runeterra scene after Twitch announced a Rivals Showdown event with a $100,000 pot involving the biggest LoR creators on the platform.

With the free-to-play game releasing just last week after months in beta, both the new patch and expansion, Rising Tides, have impacted the metagame. Here's everything you need to know.

How to watch the Twitch Rivals: Legends of Runeterra Showdown

The event will be streamed next Thursday 14th May at 5pm BST on the Twitch Rivals channel.

With no official lineup of players involved, important community members like Sean “Swimstrim” Huguenard, Saucymailman, or Calhoun “BruisedByGod” Mathis are some of the high profile options Twitch has to fill the spots available.

With the latest 1.0 patch hitting once the game went live after four months in beta phase, high-level players have been experimenting with the card changes, and most importantly, the latest expansion, Rising Tides.

Rising Tides brought several cards and keywords that incentivize aggressive play and rush down strategies. Imperial Demolitionist and Noxian Fervor have been touted as two impressive tools in the Burn Aggro deck that ranks high on the tier list according to Swimstrim.

The Scout keyword has also made a huge impact on the metagame. With the inclusion of new champions like Quinn and Miss Fortune, a whole deck built around them with scouts and challengers has risen the ranks on the ladder

Despite this, midrange easy to use decks like the Bannerman Demacia build have maintained themselves as a top choice with clear win conditions that are simple to execute and hard to stop once you get rolling.

The game is in a perfect state from a casual point of view, so many types of decks and combinations will work out if all you're looking for is to have a bit of fun.

If you want to see what the high-level players are working with, however, a recent community-driven tournament gave us an interesting look at the builds they're rolling with.
