Nintendo has announced Splatoon 3 will release in 2022.
As part of their Nintendo Direct presentation, a trailer confirmed the sequel showing character customisation and some impressive visuals.
A follow-up tweet from Nintendo provides some context, which reads: “In the wake of chaos, enter the sun scorched Splatlands and the new city, Splatsville, inhabited by battle-hardened Inklings and Octolings.
“New weapons, moves, and more await, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates in the future.”
Splatoon 2 released back in 2017 on Nintendo Switch, and has become one of the most successful new franchises for the company.
Perhaps the most surprising part is the 2022 release date, indicating this could be a far more expansive Splatoon than the multiplayer-centric past few titles.
