There could be no better setting for an Age of Empires II tournament - a real-life German castle.
And that is exactly what is happening with Red Bull's Wololo AoE tournament which is back with its fifth, and final, edition set to be played, on LAN, in the gothic Castle Heidelberg in Germany.
Qualifiers are currently ongoing, with those successful earning a place in the main event from 13-19th September. The best from the qualifiers will join the top performing players from the entire Red Bull Wololo series at Castle Heidelberg where they will battle it out for a share of the $100,000 prize pool.
The tournament will be played Empire Wars, a unique game mode for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, which sees two players face off in an honourable duel like the knights of old.
Competitors include Kai "Liereyy" Kallinger who won June's Red Bull Wololo IV, and other top-ranked AoE II players.
The series, which started with Red Bull Wololo I, back in 2020 has grown in popularity with each iteration. Wololo IV peaked at 40,000 concurrent viewers and had over 1,000 players sign up.
How can I watch Red Bull Wololo V: Enthrone?
The final is set to be quite spectacular with Red Bull taking over the gothic Castle Heidelberg in Germany from 13-19th September, where competitors will be immersed in a medieval fantasy setting.
A full broadcast is planned with talent still to be announced with English, German, and Spanish language streams all expected.
The action will be streamed on Red Bull's Twitch and YouTube channels, we have embedded the Twitch channel for you below.
